The purpose of this course is to provide staff with comprehensive knowledge and practical techniques for effectively dusting and cleaning all types of furniture and surface areas in guest spaces. This module emphasises efficiency, care for materials, and attention to detail. Learners will explore how to prevent dust from resettling, protect delicate surfaces, and improve the overall presentation and cleanliness of rooms through strategic cleaning approaches.

Key Areas of Focus
Dusting Fundamentals:
Recognise common dust-collection zones such as skirting boards, shelves, lamp bases, vents, and under furniture. Learn to dust methodically — from top to bottom — using tools like microfiber cloths, anti-static sprays, and dusters to prevent airborne dust.
Cleaning Wooden Furniture:
Use wood-safe products such as polish or damp microfiber cloths. Understand grain direction, avoid excess moisture, and preserve finishes through gentle circular motions and soft, non-abrasive tools.
Cleaning Leather Surfaces:
Learn how to clean leather using specialised cleaners or a mild soap solution. Avoid drying agents, and discover best practices for conditioning and protecting leather to prevent cracking or discolouration.
Cleaning Glass & Mirrors:
Master streak-free cleaning using ammonia-free sprays or vinegar-water mixes and lint-free cloths. Understand how to avoid drips and edge damage while keeping reflective surfaces crystal clear.
